Agency News

October 12, 2021

We are proud to announce our on-going commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace with our participation in the 50-30 challenge!

As a women-led small and medium enterprise (SME) marketing agency, we are committed to and value gender diversity, inclusiveness, equality, equity and gender parity. Pace Creative is proud to put diversity equity as a key value of our company and be one of the 1320+ participating organizations participating in the 50-30 Challenge.

Our diverse workforce is 50% female, including the leadership team, and team members of visible minorities make up the majority of our office. Being a highly inclusive, gender and ethnically diverse team, we have team members representing the LGBTQ2 as well. One area of improvement and one of our team’s goals is to represent First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

As of August 2022, we are one of over 1600 companies participating in this government initiative!

What are the Benefits of Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace?

Pace Creative has the privilege and opportunity to have top talent and experience the benefits of a diverse work environment. We share and celebrate our successes daily.

Some of the results from having a diverse workplace include:

  • Achieving above-average results for our clients.
  • Meet and exceed financial targets year after year.
  • Achieve better business outcomes with resource optimization.
  • Foster fresh insights, new ideas, and creative solutions.
  • Draw on the expertise of each team member.

Our agency has been dedicated to celebrating diversity and inclusion by leveraging our culture based on collaboration and inclusiveness. This has led us to meet our business goals, even during difficult times in the past few years.

Our goal is to challenge the status quo and become a fully diverse and inclusive agency with representations for all under-represented and equity-seeking groups.

Why is Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace Important?

So, why is it so important to be an inclusive employer? How does it benefit the society or economy?

According to a speech by Tiff Macklem, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, hiring women, minorities, people with disabilities, and other under-represented groups draws these groups into the job market and yields a more dynamic labor force and economy.

Furthermore, creating more job opportunities means creating more spending opportunities. It’s a chain reaction that drives the economy! A workplace that values diversity and inclusion also fosters creativity and innovation, giving the organization a competitive edge in the market.

On a related note, based on an article released by the University of Waterloo, culturally diverse organizations have the opportunity to access a wider talent pool of prospective employees! When the migration rate is on a steady increase, it impacts racial representation in the labor market.

In a multicultural country like Canada, where more than 20% of Canadians are born outside of Canada, our economy can take advantage of the benefits of migration! It’s important to bring educated and skilled immigrants into the workforce to maintain Canada’s competitiveness in the global market.

Is Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace a Global Trend?

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is very much a phenomenon around the world. Looking at the USA, the latest report from McKinsey shows that:

  1. Companies with more diverse leadership teams are more likely to outperform less diverse teams on profitability, increasing revenue and improving workplace productivity.
  2. Organizations that embrace diversity build greater trust and engagement with their employees. A diverse and inclusive workforce is not only fair and just; it is also made for good economics.
  3. Companies with more than 30 percent women executives were more likely to outperform companies where this percentage ranged from 10 to 30.

The main takeaway is that supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace is a trend and a norm. It offers organizations endless benefits, and really, there is no downside to it at all.

About 50-30 Challenge

The 50-30 Challenge is a campaign organized by the Government of Canada and different business and diversity groups. The campaign is being used as a framework to help accelerate diversity actions and to encourage Canadian organizations to adopt practices to improve equity.

The campaign aims to fight for under-represented and equity-seeking groups, such as women, racialized persons including Black Canadians, Indigenous people, and people who identify as LGBTQ2 or living with disabilities. The program’s goal is to challenge Canadian organizations and businesses to be fully inclusive, increase the representation of diverse groups in their workplace, and give each of these identities a voice.
